Leaving from Largo do Machado- Rio de Janeiro, to the Christ the Redeemer train station, the route is 10 kilometers and takes about 35 minutes in good traffic.
The hours for better traffic in Rio de Janeiro are between 8 and 3.
GETTING TO LARGO MACHADO

It is also a good option if you are near a station.
Go to the nearest subway station buy your round-trip ticket. Hop on a train line 1 (train with red side light), get off at the Largo do Machado station. Salve o mapa do Metrô do Rio, em seu Smartphone e traga com você. Assim fica mais fácil identificar a estação para onde você vai e descobrir em que direção pegar o trem.
To exit the platform, follow the signs to the integration Express bus. Then look SAIDA A (EXIT A) – Largo do Machado – ONIBUS EXPRESSO (Express Bus).
On leaving the metro station, you will be in a large square. Go to the other side by crossing the square. The sales booth and the stop for the Vans are on the opposite side of the subway exit.

You can also take a bus from the place where you are staying to the Largo do Machado.
If this is your option, I suggest you using the Google Maps route planner. It is a very good tool, which will give you the best route and which bus to take. Always remember to avoid heavy traffic hours when all buses are full.
