VAN TO CORCOVADO

Another way to reach the Christ Redeemer statue, besides the train, is riding one of the official vans which are vehicles with the Green Seal of approval with low exhaust emissions.

It’s a comfortable ride with air conditioning, and takes you through a pleasant stretch of Tijuca National Park.

In my opinion, the tour is interesting, but depending on the time of the day, there is the possibility of encountering some heavy traffic and the trip can take over an hour. The best option is to board at the Largo do Machado for the trip to be shorter and with less traffic. Another suggestion is to depart between 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Buy your ticket at the ticket sales booth and wait for the van, which goes nonstop, to the entrance of the statue. The ticket entitles you to a round trip.

Generally there are 3 or 4 vans at the starting points, but during high season lines can be long and waiting for a van can take hours. Seating capacity for the vans is 14 passengers.

You can also buy van tickets on the Internet and the advantage is you will have a reservation and not have to wait in line. The disadvantage is tickets can not be returned or exchanged in case of rain or fog.
