Ingredients:
- 1 large lemon .
- 2 or 3 tablespoons of sugar .
- Crushed ice.
- 88ml of CACHAÇA (RUM) OR VODKA
Caipirinha is a typical Brazilian drink.
Being simple, the quality of ingredients is essential . Almost all bars and restaurants have a caipirinha on their menu because it is much sought after.
As the alcohol concentration in the caipirinha is high, the proportion of other ingredients in the mix will define the result to your liking.
To make the mixture, begin by choosing large juicy limes. Tip: The way to tell if they are juicy is by choosing the ones with smooth and bright skin, these have a thin skin. If using the small ones, you can squeeze a few more to add the right amount of juice to prepare it.
The proportion of sugar is also important. In general, it will ask for two or three tablespoons of sugar, to compensate the lemon acidity, but you can reduce it if you prefer.
The crushed ice adds water to the mixture which gives more balance to it. The amount of cachaça is measured with the cap of a cocktail shaker.
There are variations that are also pleasing enough. You can substitute cachaça for vodka and make a Caipiroska or replace sake (Caipisaquê) or Rum (Caipiríssima).
The Caipifrutas are also another good choice. Replace the lemon by other fruits. Give preference for citrus, such as pineapple, passion fruit, kiwi , tangerine or strawberry.
